Geomico was first used in palm oil plantations 10 years ago in conjunction with chemical fertilizers in very controlled environments. Following its success though, It is now being used as a stand-alone soil conditioner by many large palm oil plantations in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Initially, farmers were sceptical. They set aside their worst pockets of land for testing the GeoMico; in Bintulu they used a flooded plain of peat soil(the worst soil condition for growing palm oil trees), but time after time GeoMico exceeded all expectations. A 10 year old tree that had never produced fruit began producing fruit just 6 months after being fed with GeoMico.

Unable to deny the ability of GeoMico to consistently out-perform chemical fertilizers with regards to fruit health, size and yield, those skeptics were soon applying GeoMico to better pockets of land. It was not long after that that chemical fertilizers were phased out and only GeoMico was used.

GeoMico is a 100% organic product and so farmers found that complying with the stringent guidelines set by the Round Table of Sustainable Palm Oil(RSPO) became much easier to achieve.

GeoMico also killed off the mats of algae that grew around the base of the trees because of the chemical fertilizers. These mats blocked off sunlight and oxygen from reaching the earth and eventually all naturally occurring soil organisms died, including soil-health agents like earthworms. But just months after GeoMico was applied, the algae died, the earthworms returned and the soil showed signs of new life.
